My artwork has always been created to be viewed on a monitor. Most art that hangs on a wall must be lit externally, but my work has always had the benefit of being lit from within by electricity. I have always been fascinated by infusing natural objects (flowers, trees, mushrooms) with a light of their own and this piece is one of my favorite examples of that theme.
It started as a very natural looking sunlit render of a lotus but when I decided to create a night version things took a turn towards the fantastical (as they often do).
